About Perl Psychological Services

 

He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1974 and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona in 1980.

 

He worked at the Dutchess County Department of Mental Hygiene (DCDMH) from 1982 until 1997. There he served as the Unit Administrator for the Substance Abuse Clinic and the Director of Consultation and Education, among other positions.

 

During his tenure at DCDMH, he developed and implemented a Predoctoral Internship Training Program in Professional Psychology. The Program earned and maintained American Psychological Association accreditation. He served as its first Director from 1986 until he resigned from DCDMH in 1997.

 

He has been certified by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services as an approved NYS Department of Motor Vehicles substance abuse evaluator and has conducted NYSDMV relicensing evaluations for over 20 years.

 

He was the President of Spectrum Behavioral Health, a regional behavioral healthcare organization, from its inception on 2/1/94 until he resigned from Spectrum on 2/27/09 to start a full-time private practice. He ran a Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program at Spectrum for 4 years.

 

He has conducted many evaluations for attorneys, district attorneys, and judges on a wide variety of issues, including alcohol and substance abuse, sexual offenses, anger or violence, and capacity to safely and responsibly use firearms.
